How a local newsletter about Fishers, Indiana turned into a founder-led marketing partner for home service and ecommerce businesses.

Skyler Braun is the founder of Bloomrank and the creator of Fishers Digest. Based in Indiana, he works with home service and ecommerce businesses on digital marketing, search visibility, advertising, websites, and copywriting.

I'm Skyler Braun, the founder of Bloomrank.

Before Bloomrank, I started Fishers Digest, a local newsletter about what was happening around Fishers, Indiana.

It covered City Council, new restaurants, local businesses, events, date-night ideas, and the other things people actually wanted to know about their city.

We had fun with it.

There were hot takes. Irreverent commentary. Opinions people occasionally disagreed with.

But underneath all of that was a genuine interest in local communities and the people building businesses inside them.

That interest eventually led to Bloomrank.

We charged our first clients $100 a month

This was probably a terrible business decision.

But it gave us permission to do an unreasonable amount of work and learn what businesses actually needed.

We built service pages. Rewrote websites. Fixed Google Business Profiles. Tested ads. Changed offers. Asked too many questions.

Sometimes the thing a client asked for was the thing they needed.

A lot of the time, it wasn't.

What we kept seeing

Fishers Digest worked with local businesses as advertisers, sponsors, and partners.

Through those relationships, I started noticing the same problem.

Every owner wanted digital marketing to work for them.

Very few felt confident that it was.

They knew their website mattered.

They knew Google mattered.

They had heard about SEO, paid ads, reviews, social media, email, AI, and everything else they were apparently supposed to be doing.

But knowing those things exist is different from knowing which of them will actually help the business.

That became the opportunity behind Bloomrank.

Not simply to sell businesses another marketing service.

To understand what they were trying to accomplish and help determine which work was actually worth doing.

Good local marketing starts with understanding the business

A painting company might come to us asking for local SEO.

Fine. But why now?

Has growth stalled?

Are competitors receiving calls that should be going to them?

Are they trying to expand into a new service or location?

Which types of projects are most valuable to the business?

Those questions matter.

We do not pretend to know how to operate a painting, roofing, automotive, or home service company better than the person who built it.

They understand their business.

Our job is to learn enough about it to determine whether search, advertising, stronger copy, a better website, or another marketing channel can help it grow.

That is also why our copywriting background matters.

Good copywriting is not just clever language.

It starts with understanding what the business does, why customers choose it, what makes it different, and what someone needs to believe before becoming a customer.

The writing comes after that.

Bloomrank is an Indiana digital marketing agency primarily working with home service and ecommerce businesses.
